Who runs this site

Fix-EP is a community reporting project in Ellesmere Port covering litter, fly-tipping, graffiti, potholes, damaged street furniture and other neglect. For anything on this page, contact us at [insert contact email].

What we collect

Reports: a photo, an approximate location (either from your device, or a postcode/street you type in), which category of issue it is, and an optional caption. We don't ask for or store a name, email or account against a report.

If you tap "Use my location," your browser will ask your permission and, if you agree, send us your device's precise coordinates - used only to set the pin for that one report. We don't store that location separately from the report itself, don't use it for anything else, and don't get access to it at all unless you agree to your browser's permission prompt.

Photos can incidentally contain personal data - a face, a number plate, a house frontage - if the uploader includes it. We ask people not to, and review flagged photos, but we can't automatically detect this.

Marking something as fixed: if you'd like a "Fixed by ..." credit shown on the photo, you can optionally type your name in when you submit the fix. It's entirely optional, only ever used for that public credit, and easy to leave blank if you'd rather stay anonymous.

Voting on a report (thumbs up/down) is tied to a random ID generated in your own browser, stored in your browser's local storage, purely to stop repeat voting from the same device. It isn't linked to your identity.

The "Get involved" form: if you fill this in, we collect whatever you provide (an optional name, your email or phone, and your message) so we can get back to you. The "Sponsor a clean-up" form works the same way, for businesses: a business name, and optionally a contact name, email, phone and message, used only to get back to you about sponsoring a clean-up. These two forms are the only parts of the site that intentionally collect contact details, and only because you've asked us to use them.

A sponsor credit ("Sponsored by ...") is only ever added to a photo by an admin, after agreeing it directly with the business - never automatically from the sponsorship form above.

Two small things live in your browser's local storage rather than a tracking cookie: a flag remembering you've seen today's welcome screen, and the anonymous voting ID mentioned above. Both exist only to make the site work properly.

Legal basis

Get-involved and sponsorship enquiries, and the optional "Fixed by" name: your consent, given by submitting the form or choosing to type your name in. Reports, votes and moderation: our legitimate interest in running and moderating a community reporting tool, kept to the minimum data needed for that.

How long we keep it

Reports and photos stay live on the map until an admin marks them resolved or removes them - they don't disappear automatically, though older, inactive reports drop down the rankings after about 60 days. Get-involved and sponsorship enquiries are kept only as long as needed to respond, then deleted.

Who can see it

Publicly visible to anyone on the site: photos, their approximate location, captions, vote counts, and - if given - the name credited for a fix or a sponsor credit. Only project admins can see flagged photos in the review queue, get-involved form submissions, and sponsorship enquiries.

Where it's stored

Reports, photos and enquiries are stored with Supabase, our database and file hosting provider, acting as a data processor on our behalf. Typing a postcode into a search box sends that postcode to postcodes.io (a free UK postcode lookup service) to convert it into a map location - they don't receive anything else from you, and we don't store what they return beyond using it to move the map.

Your rights

You can ask us what data (if any) we hold that's linked to you, and ask for a specific photo or report to be reviewed or removed - for example if it's yours, or shows your property. Contact [insert contact email].

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time; the version here is always the current one.

What this site is

Fix-EP is a community reporting tool, not an official Cheshire West & Chester Council service. Anyone can submit a photo without creating an account.

Submitting a photo

By submitting a photo, you confirm it's yours to share - you took it, or otherwise have the right to post it - and you grant Fix-EP a licence to display it on this site and, where relevant, use it to support the campaign (for example, sharing it with the council as evidence).

Sponsoring a clean-up doesn't give a business any editorial control over a report, and a sponsor credit is only ever added by an admin, agreed directly with that business beforehand.

Please don't upload anything showing identifiable individuals (faces), vehicle number plates, or anything unlawful, threatening, or aimed at a named person.

Accuracy of reports

Reports are submitted by members of the public and aren't independently verified before they're published. We review flagged content, but can't guarantee every report is accurate or up to date. The map, stats and "worst spots" leaderboard reflect community submissions only - they aren't official or verified council data.

Removing content

If you believe a photo or report about your property or business is inaccurate, unfair, or shouldn't be there, contact us at [insert contact email] and we'll review it. We may remove, edit, or decline to publish any report at our discretion.

No liability

The site is provided as-is. We don't guarantee it will always be available or fully accurate, and use of the map or its data for navigation or any other decision is at your own risk.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
